口から腰高台にかけて胡麻の窯変が大きく、場所によっては流れ胡麻が出ており、迫力がございます。高台には腰からはっきりとした緋襷が数本あり
見込みを見てみると口縁部から腰にかけて茶褐色の色の良い窯変が広がっており、色合い、触り心地は典型的な備前焼の肌と異なり瑞々しく光沢感のある肌となっております。そこから先は茶だまりに行くに従い緋襷の窯変があり、見込み、面どちらも備前の窯変をお楽しみいただける平茶碗となっております。
こちらの作品は本人による共箱、そして裏千家今日庵の箱書が付いており、“月の瀬”の銘がございます。本作品は晩年作となっています。
 
金重陶陽は備前焼作陶家であり、近代の備前焼の第一人者である。金重陶陽は備前焼の陶芸家、金重家の長男として生まれ、小学校卒業後に父の下で備前焼の作陶を始める。父が花鳥等の細工物が得意だったことから、同じく細工物の作品を製作。彩色備前や宝瓶なども若年時に製作、40歳の頃から轆轤を使った茶陶の作品を製作するようになる。桃山時代の古備前の作品の復興を目指し、忠実に作られた作品も多い。一方で透かしや箆目等細工師としての面として茶陶の作品に取り入れる等独自の物もある。

This tea bowl has a dynamic kiln effect on the surface inside and outside.
While the inside has unique textiles from the top to the middle in that it is luster and brightness unlike these of typical Bizen ware, it has different kiln effect of Goma and Hi-tasuki outside and these effects make the bowl one of the masterpieces in his work.
This has his own signature written in the box and another one written by grand master of Ura-Senke tea ceremony school inside of the box. The grand master named it “Tuki-no-Se“, which means a night landscape reflecting moonlight into surface of river.
