辻　清明　作　共箱　信楽花入でございます。
辻清明は1927年に東京にて生まれ、幼少期から骨董品好きの父親の影響を受け、10代には板谷波山や富本憲吉などの工房に出入り、教えを受ける。戦後から個展を開き活躍する一方で、益子で修業を経験する。後に小山冨士夫の六古窯の説明を聞き、焼き締め方法に興味をもち、また備前の作家、藤原啓や金重陶陽にも出会う。その後無釉焼き締め陶器を中心に製作、2006年に東京都名誉都民に選出、2008年に死去する。
 
この作品は、自然釉のビードロが美しく掛かっている面、緋色の明るい面、長石の荒々しい力強さを感じさせる部分などがあり、辻清明の中でも優品でございます。縁は厚く、そして少し首をすぼめ、肩から腰へ勢いよく膨らむその姿は堂々としており存在感がございます。
底部には窯詰める際に用いた貝の跡があり作品の面白みの一つとなっています。

Work: Vase of Shigaraki ware
 
This vase has rough skins, green vidro graze, hiiro(fire marks), and hai-kaburi(covered with ashes) and these are characteristics of shigaraki ware. Especially in the rough skins and the graze, this is so sophisticated other than that of works  created by the same potter. Also, in the bottom, there is a mark whose shape is shell. This is a shell mark and was marked when it was carried to kilm and settled on the shell because of not to adhere other works or kilm itself.
This is one of interesting points in Tsuji's work.
