    宇多系統は鎌倉末期に古入道国光が文保の頃に大和国宇多群より越中に移住して刀剣の鍛錬を始め、後に繫栄した一派である。国光の子に国房・国宗がおり、どちらも代々続く。

(The type of grain of ji or textile) Wood grain with spirally variation, or Nagare itame.

(Types of Hamon) Small and frequent irregularities, with wedged shaped areas martensitic structure projecting into the ha at right angles to the hamon and detached leaf shaped.

(Features of Boshi) continuing the gentle undulations of the main hamon into the point.

Typically, Uda school had features of spiral variations of woodgrains, some of them resembling straight grain with lines running parallel to the blade, and Shirake-Utsuri(cloudy area of bright crystalline metal bordering the hamon and often appearing to be a reflection of it in the Ji).

In Hamon in this school, there are two lines mainly. One is straight, and the other is irregular one, such as Gunome (an outline consisting of small carves) and Togariba (sharp version of Gunome)
