時代　根来塗　指樽
 
指樽は酒樽の一種であり、太鼓形の樽と同様に当時祝儀や携帯用の酒入れに使用されたものである。根来塗は飲食器、配膳具、仏具、武器、調度品など様々な形で取り入れられた塗物であり、紀州根来寺で製作が始まった朱塗の総称である。
 
本作品は指樽の中でも製作当初に近い色合いをしており、栓の形も菊の形と代表的なものとなっております。この形で同様の大きさのものに永正年紀の作品があることから、時代的に江戸時代よりも前の室町時代後期に作られたものと考えられます。

Negoro lacquer is one of Japan's traditional lacquer technologies, starting around the Kamakura period at Negoro-dera temple in the Ki-i domain (current Wakayama prefecture).
The temple was built for a new sect of Shingon Buddhism and  close to Mt.Ko-ya, the original main base of Shingon Buddhism, and the lacquer works were created and produced for priests' use.
 
This work was made for alcohol bottle during banquet.
The color of the red lacquer keeps almost original when it was created, and it is so valuable.

According to some references, one of the same types has a record of the time it was created wriiten in the bottm and it was 1520'.
